Mother naturecan work in strange ways. As we move towards the end of the Holidays, a day in 2 shades today…to say the keast.
Heading to the mountain, one could barely see the car right in front on the rroad, lost in thick fog. Then, bright sunsine showed up mid-morning, a good spring like day ahead ? Hmm, not quite. However, no significant waiting at the lifts. Direction « Versant du Lac » face, which was accessible today.
« Versant des Épinettes » face, is opened too, let’s go see what’s in store. Instant acces to the lifts there also.
Cnditions were very pleasant, wet granular on very smooth and softened bases. The trails available at the « Versant des Cantons » were specially fun, as it seems not quite as much visited, well groomed and no ice, with, the warmer temperatures they’ve had for the last few days here.
The hard work, combined with the man made snow saved the day. At this time, 5 faces, giving access to 42 trails (approximately 38 %) of the terrain, for our pleasure. Turns are easy, snow is wet and granular, but not too « heavy ». Temperature stayed above 0 celsius mark, with a + 3 celsius.
Then, clouds of fog took control.
At least, the fog did not cover the entire mountain, so, still good skiing/riding to do, once out of the cloud.
The week-end will start with a little cooler temperatures, minus – 3 with, a little snow is the forecast for Saturday. So head on out, still some fun to have here, despite the « so-so » weather we’ve had… for quite some time now…
