Hello everyone,
After a few days in the same place we are starting to find our marks, and especially to optimize our days to make the most of the terrain, the conditions and the sunshine.
This is why we left our Henri Country House (it’s so nice here… 😊) with the 4010 bus, right at the door of the hotel, towards Mittersill, at the other end of the estate in sector G. We wanted to go down directly to the bottom of G1 at Pass Thurn rather than doing the big circuit from A1 via the Fly 3S.
It was very good this morning. Full sun to soften the freshly worked slopes a little and to have fun carving frenetically. Starting in this sector also changes the dynamics of the day by allowing us to see different terrain. We had the feeling of attacking a completely new resort. Bravo!
So we went to the very end of the resort as we wanted to do since our arrival. Done! From there we then gradually returned to F1 in Jochberg from where it is possible to take the bus home. I quickly returned to the other side via the Fly 3S to be able to take the train back to Hahnenkamm at the scheduled time for my appointment.
The temperature is better than yesterday and it grips better. After about ten days of skiing, even if they are maintained daily with my diamond file, my edges are starting to require 😱 a good sharpening. But we manage by returning to the basic gestures. And it works …
These are our last moments in Kitzbühel and we were amazed by the quality of the infrastructure and facilities. It felt like the whole resort was built last week. Everything is brand new and in perfect condition, it’s incredible and truly impressive. We took several 6 and 8 seater chairlifts, and the new 10 seater gondola at B2 just blew us away. We felt like we were sitting in an exotic air-conditioned sports car.
The other element that we really liked was the vegetation that is very present. The trees are very present between the slopes, which is more pleasant in foggy weather in addition to cutting the wind, although it is never very cold here. Also, we were told that given the good vegetation cover on the ground, they do not need such a large snow cover for the ski season to start, unlike other places higher up in altitude like in France or Switzerland.
The rest of the day was just as pleasant and, a little to pay tribute to our Canadians, I did another 21 (the Streif ) very slowly and carefully on the way back to the base of A1 in order to really take the pulse of this incredible event. It is crazy, nothing less. It is something to see and to ski down at least once in your life as a skier.
Enjoy your skiing at home and it will be a pleasure to tell you about this unforgettable journey in person!
